Hard Landing is the first run in Hong Kong. ==Synopsis== Raymond Black. The old man gave you a home once. Took you and Duncan off the streets of the Barrens - sheltered, educated, slapped sense into you both, until you almost resembled productive members of society. And then you took off. Left it all behind. Landed behind bars for a time, tried to start a new life after that. It's been eight years since you've heard Raymond's voice. Until out of the blue, you got this cryptic message, a plea for help: "Meet me in Hong Kong, right away." And, wired to your account, enough nuyen to pay for the flight and then some. The descent is rough. A squall comes out of nowhere, sending a solid sheet of rain punching into the suborbital transport. With a ragged shudder, the plane finally skids to a halt at the edge of the Chek Lap Kok tarmac. An hour and an interminable number of emotionless security checkpoints later, you hail a water taxi to Victoria Harbour. Hong Kong looms ahead, pulsing with energy. ==Walkthrough== * Welcome to Hong Kong - try not to retch, you paid for the meal after all. Meet Duncan Wu, the closest you had to a brother, and Carter, his superior officer who comes along as back up. After a quick welcome to Hong Kong, you end up in the thick of it from day one. * Follow the objective marker - and find out that the gate is closed. Time for a detour to the construction site. You can use Intelligence 3 to open it in lieu of Carter. * Enter and meet the proud representatives of Hong Kong's underworld. No matter what option you choose, you wind up in combat with four thugs. Take out the mage first and the rest at your leisure. Make sure to pick up the Tokko from under the crane after the fight. * The next gate will be opened by Carter - and Duncan will pester you to use Cantonese from that point onward. * Beyond that gate you will run into three more smugglers. It's possible to just skip the fight - or take them all out and pilfer a medkit from their bikes. Whatever you do, you gain a karma point beyond the fence. * Pick up the nuyen by the shore, then continue down the left and talk to the ork. It's generally a good idea to hold back on shooting people in the face, so if you want to avoid a confrontation, make sure to encourage everyone to chill out. Wind your way through the conversation and... * As expected, the party gets crashed. Time to fight your way to the exit point. ** With Decking 2, you can access the police bike to deactivate the drones. With Drone Control 2, you can actually turn them on your enemies. Guess all that training paid off, huh? ** Regardless, you are surrounded. Kill your way through the police in the way to the exit point. There are four total, plus two drones. Another one flanks you from the alley you came through. There are two more by the exit, down the road, and another one that will push up from the rear. ** Every turn you are out of cover, you will get fired on by a sniper. So, y'know, don't end a turn out of cover. * Once all 4 characters exit the area, you're clear. * Except you're not. * Use the ladder once you're done wrapping your (and Wu's) head around the fact that you're both career criminals now.
